The Cary Theater – 122 E. Chatham Street, Downtown Cary The Jim McCann Jazz Project performs swing, American Classic, jazz, and Big Band favorites from artists like Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, and Mel Torme - and blends them with hits by modern masters like Harry Connick Jr., Kurt Elling, and Michael Buble. In a single evening, the band connects with multiple generations – always bringing their own warmth and passion for music that has stood the test of time. This is a FREE concert at The Cary Theater! Please be advised E. Chatham Street will be closed for Lazy Daze Festival preparations (Lazy Daze is Saturday, August 23, 9a.m. – 5 p.m.), so concert attendees will need to walk to the venue. Thousands of patrons will come to the city's Downtown District later this month for the film event of the summer: the 2014 North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (NCGLFF) — scheduled for August 15-24 at the historic Carolina Theatre. Founded in 1995, the NCGLFF celebrates a worldwide glimpse of today's gay and lesbian life; helps bring the community together, and features entertaining and sophisticated films and filmmaking. The 10-day event is now the second largest gay, lesbian and transgender film festival in the Southeast. Ten-passes — good for 10 film admissions — are on sale now for $85 at ncglff.org, carolinatheatre.org and at the Carolina Cinemas inside the Theatre. Individual tickets are $10 and will go on sale August 11. A full schedule of films, events, sponsors and additional information is available at ncglff.org.
